Senior Landscape Architect
- Location: Perth
- Discipline: Landscape Architecture
- Job type: Full Time
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Shape places that matter
Urbis is seeking a talented Senior Landscape Architect to join our Perth Landscape Architecture team.
With a strong pipeline of city shaping projects, this is an opportunity to take a leading role in the design and delivery of significant public-realm, civic, landscape and placemaking projects across Western Australia and nationally.
This role will suit a confident design led landscape architect who enjoys balancing creative ambition with technical rigour, client engagement and successful project delivery. You will have the opportunity to lead projects and contribute to strategic design outcomes, mentor emerging team members and build your profile within the industry.
The opportunity
As a Senior Landscape Architect, you will contribute across the full project lifecycle from early concept and schematic design through to design development, documentation, approvals and construction.
With support from Directors and senior leaders you will take ownership of project delivery, client relationships and high quality design outcomes. Collaborating with a nationally recognised, multidisciplinary design practice to create places with lasting social, environmental and cultural value.
You will:
- Lead the design and delivery of medium to large scale multi-disciplinary projects.
- Develop compelling, practical and well resolved landscape, placemaking and urban design outcomes.
- Manage project scope, programme, resourcing, fees and deliverables, identifying risks and opportunities early and communicating them clearly.
- Prepare and review concept designs, design development packages, tender and construction documentation, specifications, schedules and cost-related information.
- Coordinate effectively with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Champion design quality through active participation in design reviews, workshops and strategic project discussions.
- Provide technical leadership in landscape construction detailing, materials, planting, documentation and construction processes.
- Support and mentor junior team members, helping to build capability and maintain consistent quality across project outputs.
- Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to bring the broader expertise of Urbis into project teams.
- Contribute to business development, proposals and work-winning activities, with mentoring and support to develop these skills further.
You have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture.
- At least five years' relevant professional experience in a design practice, consultancy or comparable environment.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex landscape architecture, public-realm, urban-design or placemaking projects.
- Strong capability across concept design, design development, technical documentation and construction-phase services.
- A detailed understanding of landscape construction methods, documentation standards, consultant coordination and contractor-facing deliverables.
- The ability to manage project programmes, budgets, resourcing and client expectations.
- Clear written, visual and verbal communication skills, including confidence presenting design ideas to clients and project stakeholders.
- Strong AutoCAD capability and experience producing high quality technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Word and Excel, including preparation of specifications, schedules and cost-related documentation.
Experience with Revit/BIM, Rhino, SketchUp, Lumion or other 3D-modelling and visualisation tools will be highly regarded, but is not essential if you bring strong design, documentation and project-delivery capability.
An interest in client development, proposals and building long-term relationships is welcomed. Urbis will support your development in these areas through mentoring, exposure to senior leaders and participation in work-winning opportunities.
