We're currently hiring for:
- Assistant Planner
- Assistant Planner - Smart & Sustainable Places (only for NSW)
- Social Planning Assistant (only for NSW)
These positions offer a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to high-quality advice and innovative solutions for our clients.
As an intern at Urbis, you'll actively contribute to complex and meaningful projects that shape the urban landscape. Working within our accomplished team, you'll gain invaluable insights and make a tangible impact on real-world initiatives. Our student roles provide the flexibility of working 3 - 4 days per week, allowing you to seamlessly integrate your internship with your studies.
As part of the broader Planning team, you will:
- Support team members with client requests and project requirements, escalating to senior staff when needed.
- Build relationships with peers in other Business Units.
- Learn technical aspects of planning and engagement projects, including research, analysis, and stakeholder management.
- Present and communicate research findings and data solutions internally.
- Work on multi-disciplinary projects, meeting specifications, deadlines, and budgets.
- Prepare weekly timesheets and input to monthly accounts.
- Contribute to a safe workplace and comply with health, safety, and wellbeing policies.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
As an Assistant planner, you will:
- Support the Planning team with information administration, report generation, and research tasks.
- Review planning scheme amendments and monitor retail applications.
- Assist with planning advice to clients.
As an Assistant Planner (Smart & Sustainable Places), you will:
- Support the Smart & Sustainable Places team with best practice sustainability, smart city and innovation outcomes for city shaping
- Assisting with preparing sustainability strategies and ESD reports;
- Assisting with preparing inputs into smart places strategies and digital connectivity policy advice
As a Social Planning Assistant, you will:
- Assist the Social Planning team with social impact assessments, sustainability planning, and community needs assessments.
- Support multi-disciplinary projects and manage client relationships.
About You:
- Currently studying a relevant degree (e.g., Regional and Urban/Town Planning, Engineering, Communications, Sociology, Human Geography).
- Proven skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and effective report writing skills.
